Program Notes
The Wright brothers are well known for building and flying one of the first powered aircrafts in 1903, in Dayton, Ohio. This programmatic piece follows the process of invention and creativity of the brothers as they developed the aircraft. First in dreaming of flight, developing through set-backs, and, finally, flying.
This piece was commissioned by Mark Thompson, band and orchestra director at Thompson Valley High School, in Loveland, Colorado. This piece was premiered by his band in 2024.
